I am Ms. do it myself

hey folks. the diva is back.

My lovely brother bought me a pair of boots that i requested. when i saw the picture of the boots i thought OK they are a little ugly but ill decorate them anyway so they will look hot. The old adage never judge a book by its cover comes to mind. The picture of the boots did not do it justice at all. i got them from him on Wednesday and i fell in love with them they are simple but so cute and i love them so much.

I was then placed in a dilemma. One part of me said don't spoil them with glue or spray paint use them just like that. The other part of me said just man up and do the damn thing. i started to brainstorm then i came up with the idea that if i use Velcro on the boots to put the bling and just stick it onto the boot it will not be damaged.

Off to Samaroos San Fernando i went, with a fellow masquerader, we got the bling and the Velcro and the feathers and thus the Velcro decoration of my boot was created. I have never heard anyone do this before. i did not steal anyone's idea or anything . To me i thought of this Velcro thing by myself.

This morning after about 2hrs of sleep and dreaming of decorating the boots i decided to decorate them. with  much success the Velcro idea worked and my boot is blinged out. i could have only done one side because the Velcro was not enough for the straps for both boots. So i will have to go to Samaroos again to get me some more.

Below are the before during and after of the blinging of my boot. all i need to complete it is the leg pieces from my costume and more fluff feathers for the top of the boot.

  1. KUDOS to you Babs!! it looks great, however these questions come to mind.

    1. Are you going to spray paint it gold or yellow since your costume IS YELLOW?

    2. What are you going to do with the beautiful leg pieces that comes with the costume??

  2. thanks EJ. i know you want me to spray paint them but i'm not. i know you want to kill me for that and since day 1 you said no to the black. but alas i'm accentuating them with the silver bling that u see there. the leg pieces will go under the fluff feathers or it will replace them and the feathers will go to the side like wings. thank god for the Velcro because i can try different things without spoiling the boots.

  4. Lol!!! Babs, they look great BUT like L's said......your costume is yellow and boots black..hmm!! Well, just make sure you SUPER accentuate it with feathers and bling so that it'll take away from the black. Good job though!! You are soooooooo ahead of us in the prep girl..lol!

  7. I think you are making a grave mistake by going with black for that costume. I mean, look at the costume it's the backdrop of this blog, black will just, sad to say, kill the costume. But, hey, to each her own huh.
