Up in the sky, what is that?

It's a bird, its a plane, no it's the Avenger of the downtrodden!...And just like Ip they came with innovative and some newness. People can say what they want about Ip, BUT I don't believe I have ever said, "lawd look at ideas Ip borrowed.". For 2012 there are 3 costumes I loved:
1. Guardian of the Rivers (the scarlet Red costume)
2. Avenger of the downtrodden (purple, green, gold), and
3. Up holder of Justice (turquoise, purple, gold, with a smashing "bikini"

So, amidst all the criticisms, come Carnival Mon/Tues, I am positive that these would be magnificent!

Caribana Saturday in Toronto

Greetings Saturday morning, it's Caribana in Toronto have a grand time to all you masqueraders, performers and tourists who will pump an obscene amount of money into the economy only to have some talk about the Caribana Committee busted broke and ish like that for 2012...smh....

In full swing...

Here we are, 2 days shy of the month of August and the merriment of YUMA's band launch Aug.13.  Many, many, dare I say countless Yumaraders are somewhat, patiently waiting to see what will be for 2012.  And after seeing sort after Tribe & Bliss' launch, well, that's all I have to say on that.

Did D'Krewe not have any designers for 2012 costumes..

Well, it was quite an unshocker when I thought I was looking at Tribe and Bliss.

I don't know who sat down and said, "yuh know what, that band had real sweet costumes and since that year already gone, and they not using them, let's give them to our masqueraders for 2012."

Utter madness!

YUMA, I DO NOT want to see ANY recycled costumes from Tribe and Bliss for 2012.

Don't ask me which is the best band to play with. Because that is a personalized question. Everyone plays with a band for different reasons; beautiful costumes, loyalty, no choice it's where all their friends are playing etc., whatever it maybe. The one thing to remember is that: Toronto is not Trinidad, but play with your crew, and have a great time from start to finish.

Well, it's a fabulous memory. The music, the hot and not so hot sweating bodies in amazing costumes, gyrating to the pulsating sounds of Iwer George telling yuh to "go way from meh," while Machel explicitly telling yuh to take "Advantage", and Kes want yuh to be "Wotless" on the streets of Port-of-Spain.

What's next? Funny you should ask, did you know many have already booked and purchased airfare, hotels an are sitting on the costume deposits for 2012 already? Don't look surprised, this is what happens when you are possessed by THE CARNIVAL SPIRIT. It's NEVER too soon to start planning and preparing for the next Carnival.

Keep that in mind as you spend all that money to run after ALL the other Carnivals :)

So tonight, my sis came over and we're looking at her carnival pics and one pics besides the one of a particular Carnival Songtress caught my eyes....

Ladies, have you learned NOTHING about dressing?  If you would not wear your pantyhose over your pants to go to work, what make some of all yuh think that it's ok to do it with your carnival costume?
