How do you select your costume?

What is your costume selection process?  After the band launches what do you look for in a costume that makes you say, 'YES, YOU SHALL BE MY CARNIVAL SKIN?'

  • Do you agonize over this for weeks until it's time to register, and that in itself is another topic, registration.
  • Do you and your friends hold teleconferences and lament over every single detail for weeks until it's time to purchase?
  • Do you drive those non-masqueraders around you, totally insane?
  • Do you and are you one of those who will email the mascamp requesting info upon info, send your friends and family members to the camp to photograph the pics so close are some closeups that you can seethe interweaving of the fabrics?
  • Do you envision yourself on the cover of The Carnival Magazine all magnificent and feeling SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS!!??

  1. Hello Yumite Chatr's this post has just described my crew. We are always, ALWAYS speaking about Carnival. It's always an indepth discussion about costumes, the bands, shoes, the hair, who isn't giving the workout 200% and thensome. Needless to say, it happens every year and we love it.

  2. Once I see a costume I like, I immediately start to inquire about how to get it. After that, depending on an answer, I either start planning on how to accessorize it or how to turn that no into a yes, cause what Lola wants, Lola gets....lol

  3. i attend the band launch, mostly to see how comfortable it is while the model is moving.
i review the costume pics at every angle
i consider if it will look right on my body type.
    a colour i haven't played in before.
i try to calculate how much i would need to spend on the entire ensemble(matching boots etc.)
and of course,i try to get value for money-2 beads and 2 feathers for TT4000.00 BL IS MADNESS

  4. Being new to Carnival, I prepared myself for the price because after reading blogs and hearing from around the way, I didn't want to have a heart attack when prices came out. So, I just said to myself, "this is your first time, go with what color looks great on you, and what you love." I was in Trinidad when YUMA launched and I attended with a friend and I in total awe when I saw The Oracles, I didn't know what to do with myself, to tell you the truth. I flew out the next day, and I put up the picture on my bedroom wall and in my closet, on my fridge, in my car etc. Now it's mine and I couldn't be happier!
